Oh, my goodness, I feel as if so, much time has passed since my last post. Well now we are into the thick of spring, beautiful weather and blooming trees are everywhere I look. Okay, onto fashion and probably one of my favorite things about fashion, shoes. Anything from light colored booties to espadrilles to fun sneakers we are all ready to bring on some head turning shoes for the season.
Alright let’s start with the dressiest options and work our way down. So, for work shoes or if you prefer a dressy casual outfit then you are definitely going to need to snag a pair of slingback shoes. Whether they are flats, a round or pointy toe heel these are an easy go to for an effortlessly chic outfit this spring. Slingback shoes are simply that, a pair of flats or heels with a sling attached to the back. If you can never wear mules or slides because your feet are always coming out, then this is the alternative for you! Pair a heeled slingback shoe with a medium wash straight leg pair of jeans with a short cardigan or your favorite spring blouse; swap out the jeans with a navy or white dress pant for work. If you prefer a flat, then go with a somewhat cropped pair of pants to let the shoe have its moment.
I somewhat hinted at it above, but this option can be both dressy and casual, the clog. I remember having clogs probably 10 or so years ago and absolutely adored how they would add that extra detail to any of my outfits and of course the instant height boost. Most clogs are going to be around 3-4” in height, though I have seen a slim option of lower heeled clogs available too. With clogs you will probably want to stick with a neutral color, perhaps a black or light tan for spring, and you will be able to have the choice of leather or suede. My personal favorite is a light tan suede clog with stud detail, though as I write this, I realize I do like a nice black leather option too, sometimes the tan suede can just appear dirty, even though it isn’t, one of my pet peeves!
Next, is the colorful heeled sandal. I am sure you have seen it everywhere this season, vibrant accessories, i.e., green bags, green shoes, yellow shoes, yada yada yada you get it, these colorful accessories are all the rage this season. Heeled yellow, green, or even bright blue sandals are perfect for pairing with your favorite denim for an evening out or a floral slip dress for any spring weddings or trips you may be taking. I think having at least one pair of colorful sandals in your wardrobe is a fantastic option for when you really want to take your outfit to the next level. I mean come on who doesn’t have a ton of sandals in black and tan right now. They are very easy to style too. You can wear a neutral-colored blouse or if you do a patterned top pull a color from the pattern and match it with your shoes, same goes with a dress. For example, if you have a floral-patterned top there may be some green in the florals so pull that color to match with the shoes. Heck, if you are wild then don’t even worry about matching with the shoes, but I think it will pull your outfit a little more together if you color match. I have yet to get any sandals this season because first off, it’s still a little to chilly on the East Coast right now and second off my lifestyle just seems too casual out the moment, so I may keep my eyes peeled for some fun green flat sandals for a casual day out.
Perhaps the most casual option, the sneaker. There are two styles of sneakers I want to talk about, first the trainer. This athleisure inspired sneaker is not only in style right now, but goodness it is so comfortable. I would go as far to say that New Balance sneakers are what inspired this trend. Veja has some awesome trainers right now, but if you prefer something without a logo there are so so many trainers available. You will be able to find these shoes in an array of colors. The simplest option will be a cream sneaker and from there things only get funkier. Think five different shades of pink or a variety of pastel colors. These will look great with white or blue boyfriend jeans this season. And the second style of sneaker you are not going to want to miss is the high-top sneaker. I believe I have talked about this in the past, but high-top sneakers are here to stay and with spring there are many new ways to style them. First off you can pair high top sneakers with a loose pair of denim shorts (think Agolde length shorts) and a lightweight sweater. Or you can juxtapose the casualness of the sneaker with a feminine dress, this would be the ultimate comfy outfit.
Lastly, this is not the most casual, but I honestly forgot about it because I am so over these shoes by the time spring comes around are booties. If you are somewhere with a rainy spring, then grab a light tan or grey lug sole waterproof bootie. And, if you just prefer booties maybe for their comfort or overall classic look then go with a tan suede for the season. These are not really trending per se, but they are just an easy go-to option for springtime.
Which pair of shoes are you most looking forward to trying? Did I miss anything? Let me know down in the comments below!
