Ciao! Who is ready for the holidays and the festive attire? With the holidays right around the corner many have their mind on what they are going to wear whether it be something formal to a casual hang out with friends it is time to bring out all things sparkly. This is the one time of year you can get away with wearing something all bedazzled out. Now the question is “What to Wear?”
First and foremost is velvet. Velvet is likely the most understated of all the holiday fabrics out there. So, if you do not want something so flashy this will be your best bet. If you lean towards more classic styles stick with black velvet. There are a ton of black velvet pant options out there right now. I am loving sending them to my clients as they are a fun option that can be dressed up with a blouse or sweater for work, and then perhaps paired with a matching velvet top for casual holiday events. If you want to go a little dressier then stick with a black velvet dress. Most casual velvet dresses will be more of a form fitting style, while I have seen a couple of velvet gown options if you are needing a formal option. As for doing something with a color option I am loving blue velvet. This looks so chic and is different from your classic black velvet if you are wanting to do something new. Another classic option besides black velvet is champagne velvet. Oo this can look so elegant. And lastly if you are wanting a bold option go with red! Imagine a one shouldered velvet dress for your work holiday event. This is so fun and vibrant for this time of year and you are bound to receive many compliments.
The next option if you are a little more daring is metallic. Think gold, silver, or a black metallic dress. Bring forth all the shimmer! It does not have to be a metallic dress; I have seen some fabulous metallic sweaters this year. These sweaters offer all the sparkle one could need in a top. You can pair the top with black velvet pants or better yet wear them with a sparkly pair of joggers (my personal favorite). Pair this metallic top with your pants of choice and a fun sparkly heel to bring things over the top. As for dresses there are more flowy options of these than velvet dresses. There are some fabulous champagne layered midi styles that are oh so chic. A burgundy metallic dress screams classy for holiday festivities. Or you cannot go wrong with the staples, silver, and gold. These are probably the easiest holiday dresses out there to style. Simply search for metallic dresses on your favorite websites and I am sure hundreds of options will pop up. And with these gold and silver dresses you can pair them with a black heel and clutch for a neutral NYE outfit. I cannot forget metallic shoes! If you are someone who loves wearing all black looks, even for the holidays, then add some pop to your outfits with a gold or silver metallic shoe. You can easily find metallic heel options or a fun pointy metallic flat if you are not into heels. Ah so many outfit ideas running through my head right now!
And, for the most dazzling option of them all, sequins! You can wear sequins in anything from a dress, to pants to blouse. You do not even have to buy a full sequined dress or pants there are many options out there with sequins as accents. Envision a pair of silk joggers with a sequin stripe down the side or perhaps a dress with a few sequin details would be great for those of you who are not fully sold on the all-sequin look. For a full sequin look there are some amazing sequin skirts available right now. I currently have my eye on a silver sequin midi skirt. To style a sequin skirt pair it with a white blouse or slimming white sweater (you cannot go wrong with a puff sleeve top this season!). Sequin dresses will be similar to the velvet options, your basic silver, gold, and black along with red for that extra pop. The only thing you need to keep in mind for these pieces is the maintenance! Most of these sequin items are delicate so they will require hand washing or dry cleaning, which may not be a big deal for an item you are only wearing a couple of times a year.
And finally, we cannot forget the ultimate holiday layering piece, faux fur. This is a magnificent piece for wearing if you are in a cold climate. This cozy yet chic piece is as easy as it gets for taking your outfits to the next level. You can basically find these coats in any length ranging from cropped to waist length or a calf length option. If you want to go for a totally feminine look snag a faux fur coat in a pink and pair it with a silver or gold outfit. However, if you are wanting something more low key stick with black, grey, or a nude faux fur coat. You can do no wrong with a faux fur coat during the holiday season or even an everyday winter look. Another outfit I am envisioning with this faux fur is a waist length jacket with silver joggers, a matching top, black heels, and statement silver earrings for the full holiday effect. Have I sold you yet on this jacket?!
What are you going to snag this season for you holiday looks? Let me know down below in the comments. I am most looking forward to using a mix of all these fun styles leaning more towards a casual side. Like flowy velvet pants, a sequin top with loose denim, and maybe for a dressier outfit a flowy metallic skirt. Bring it all on!
